Are we cousins?

Are we cousins?

Some still remember how a former prime minister used to say quite openly and a bit arrogantly that we were all cousins in Bulgaria. Or in other words, we are such a small country that no matter who you appoint, you will always find some conflict of interest.

Twenty or more years ago, this may have been partially true - there weren't that many qualified people in politics, even the unqualified ones were pretty much the same.

Today the picture is already different. We aren’t cousins. With anybody. And there is still a conflict of interest, a huge conflict. Those who understand politics won’t do it, and those who want to do politics don't understand it.

Here, this now means a total split of the "family" and the fairy tale of the cousins is now history. What we should remember from it, however, is that with or without conflict, Bulgaria was more cohesive twenty years ago, the divisions were not as deep, and it is time to come together again. All of us, regardless of relations.
