09.04.2021
A story by the PR expert Maxim Behar about his meetings with Prince Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II and Duke of Edinburgh, who died at the age of 99.
Speaker: In Bulgaria, one of the people who met in person and talked to Prince Philip is Maxim Behar.
Maxim Behar: An extraordinary man, who devoted much of his life to charity work, left this world. We will remember him with his many remarkable charitable projects and by his general concern for the people.
Speaker: Maxim Behar’s acquaintance with Prince Philip dates back several years.
Maxim Behar: We worked for seven or eight years on one of his projects, called the Grenadier Fund. Prince Philip was its honorary Colonel-in-Chief. The project was a fundraising for Afghan heroes, British soldiers killed by landmines in Afghanistan. His Royal Highness asked me if we could take over the entire communication campaign of this fund. Of course, I answered in the affirmative.
Speaker: Bulgaria remains the most interesting topic of conversation between the two.
Maxim Behar: Many things connect his son Prince Charles with Bulgaria. Their attitude towards Bulgaria is not to be underestimated. All these meetings they had with Bulgarians are not to be underestimated.
Speaker: Meetings from which a vivid memory remains.
Maxim Behar: The whole family, not just Prince Philip, are people who are very polite and you can't hear any of them to say something rude or unpleasant to others. They had a great upbringing.
