Management, You Stupid!

Management, You Stupid!

In his weekly column "Max's Column" for TBmagazine, Maxim Behar talks about the difficulties and changes in the Bulgarian economy and business and the only force that counts - experience.

At least half of the businessmen I deal with complain every day. Endless complaining. The inflation, the prices, the wages, the insurance taxes, the lack of skilled people... Unfortunately, just a few of them have the recipe how to deal with all of this using quite traditional methods - let's raise wages, tax evasion, cut costs, oh, how complicated..., fire someone..., oh, even more complicated...

We remember what President Bill Clinton said in one of his successful campaign speeches - "The economy, you stupid, take care of the economy and everything will fall into place." Yes, it must be so, but in another time and another place. This formula no longer works. And it will probably never work again.

The economy, business, industry, whatever you want to call it, look nothing like the situation ten years ago. The people, we are all too different already to fit our old ways into this new environment, let alone achieve more.

And the reason – the key is in management! It should be far more human, far more flexible. And most importantly - every single position, title or staff should have a criterion - experience. And nothing else!
